In every KTM 790/890 tested we noticed that oil pressure at the exit of the filter measured about 30-45psi (with factory LC8c 2bar spring). Our oil pump spring has been carefully designed to bring that pressure up into the 40-80psi range, matching that of most other modern engines with gerotor type oil pumps. More specifically, our spring has been designed to quickly ramp oil pressure from about 45psi at idle to 65psi by 2500RPM and then hold at 70-80psi from 3000RPM-Redline. Some of the higher rate springs that we tested (factory 3.5-5bar) do increase oil pressure, but typically yield minimal increase at low RPM with pressure spiking at high RPM. Our spring design is unique in that it smoothly shifts the oil pressure curve upwards while keeping a very linear load on the gerotor pump and oil system, making it ideal for all adv/road/race applications. Made from premium US sourced chrome silicone wire, our springs are ready for continuous use in harsh high temp conditions.
Installation Tips: Our spring is longer than the factory spring and requires more pre-load. Use an 8mm socket to remove the oil pan bolts, then use the same socket to aid in compressing the Clean Speed spring into the oil pump. The oil pan gasket is KTM part # 63530086000, it is a formed steel compression type gasket and while they can be re-used, we do recommend replacing this gasket while the oil pan is off.
